Gov. makes decision on dozens of bills

SACRAMENTO, Calif. Ten new laws have to do with fire safety. They include new requirements for brush clearing around private homes.

Another law will allow development of new oil reserves beneath the Wilmington oil field,

He also approved a law that will prevent wholesalers from selling plastic foam packing peanuts.

The governor also vetoed more than 100 laws this weekend. He rejected a proposal that would increase requirements on so-called boutique hospitals, saying it would discourage competition. And Schwarzenegger vetoed a proposal that would have let higher-level drug dealers follow diversion programs instead of going to jail.
