The Tournament of Roses president said Leachman personifies this year's theme -- "Hats Off to Entertainment."
Leachman first appeared on television in the 1940's and won an academy award for the 1971 film "The Last Picture Show."
The 82-year-old actress is only the tenth woman to hold the "grand marshal" title in the parade's 120 year history.
