LOS ANGELES --Work begins on Thursday to create a children's meadow at MacArthur Park.A groundbreaking will mark the start of the $2.5 million project. It will turn a dirt lot into a synthetic playing field, with picnic areas and lighting.
Organizers say the project will create much-needed green space in one of the most densely-populated areas of the country.
