2 San Bernardino kidnapped women rescued

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. Earlier this week, the SWAT team busted into an apartment building in San Bernardino. They say it was an anonymous tip that led them here. The tip stated two women had been kidnapped. When they got inside, they found an 18-year-old woman locked up in a closet. She had minor injuries, but it could have been much worse.

"The investigators did tell me that through their investigation they determined that the 18-year-old victim was going to be murdered if they had not rescued her," said San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department Spokesperson Cindy Beavers.

Detectives found the other victim, a 30-year-old woman, at a different location. Now they're not saying anything about motives for the kidnappings, but we're told 13 people were arrested, all with ties to a local gang. Four people are the primary suspects: 36-year-old Albert Gutierrez; 29-year-old Daniel Mendivil; 32-year-old Angelica Romero; and 26-year-old Dellaery Limon.

Resident Alvin Conway was shocked when he learned gang members were accused of kidnapping an 18-year-old and locking her up just a few doors from where he lives.

"I hope they get each and every one of them. You know, that's crazy. You know, to have somebody like that locked up, it's terrible," said neighbor Alvin Conway.

Conway hasn't been in this neighborhood long, but he could only shake his head in response to what's happened.

"To me it's terrible. It's very terrible. You know, at nights it seems like it's quiet and peaceful and the next thing you know you hear the helicopters, they shootin' around here. It's bad. To me, it's bad," said Conway.

Most of the suspects are in the county detention center. They could be arraigned Friday.
