The California Highway Patrol shut down the carpool lane for hours during the morning commute as crews worked to clean up the wreckage. Some 15 gallons of diesel fuel spilled onto the roadway during the accident, as well as some of the frozen chicken.
The driver was trapped in the big rig following the crash. Rescuers had to cut open the roof of the cab to free him from the wreckage. He walked away with minor injuries.
The carpool lane was reopened shortly before 10 a.m.
It's still unclear what triggered the crash.
