Osteoporosis drugs increase heart risk

Popular medications for building bones - may have a serious side effect. Researchers say drugs called bisphosphonates could up the risk of a heart condition.Bisphosphonates include drugs like Fosamax, Reclast, Boniva and Actonel. They work by increasing bone density.

Miami researchers say bisphosphonates may increase the risk of atrial fibrillation.

But while the risk was worth noting, it was small. The FDA is reviewing the drugs' safety, but isn't recommending changes.
