DWP ordered to pay $160M in damages

The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power will pay $160 million in damages for overcharging several government customers.Customers include the Los Angeles Unified School District and Los Angeles County.

This is a settlement of a lawsuit filed 8 years ago.

Attorney General Jerry Brown says the DWP has been imposing illegal charges for years.

LAUSD will get back nearly $68 million.

The settlement is the largest ever against a utility for overcharging customers.
