Dentist: Limit when children eat candy

A dentist at Temple University says it's not the amount of candy, but the frequency that can rot smiles because constantly snacking means teeth are exposed to acid longer.

Eating four pieces of candy at one time exposes teeth to acid for 30 minutes to an hour, but when eating one piece per hour, acid can wash over the teeth for four hours.

Eating candy with a meal and brushing afterward are your best bets for avoiding cavities.
