Filing period for March election begins

LOS ANGELES The mayor's office is up for grabs, and Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa plans to run for re-election.

Rick Caruso, a former member of the police and water and power commissions is reportedly considering a run.

Among the other offices to be decided include eight City Council seats and three school board seats.

Candidates will have until noon on Saturday to file.
