Palmdale to take over Palmdale airport

PALMDALE, Calif. The decision comes in the wake of United Airlines announcing it will no longer provide service to San Francisco out of Palmdale.

Palmdale currently is operated by Los Angeles World Airports, which also controls LAX, Ontario and Van Nuys airports.

Efforts by world airports to make Palmdale a viable travel alternative to LAX and Burbank have not worked out.
