An LAPD patrol car driving in the opposite direction noticed the Jeep driving erratically, and turned around to follow the vehicle. The suspect apparently reacted to the police car and accelerated down the street at high speed, striking a BMW SUV farther down the street, bouncing off the SUV and plowing into a flatbed truck, destroying the stolen Jeep and killing its driver.
Other people on scene reportedly sustained minor injuries, but the suspect was the only fatality.
Traffic was being redirected from the scene.
