24-hour blood pressure test shows risk

Canadian researchers found reading blood pressure every half hour for up to 24 hours was a superior predictor of heart attack and stroke.

The reason is some patients' blood pressure remains high despite treatment.

And night time blood pressure readings were particularly telling for this group. Slight rises increased the risk for future heart attacks.
