Man shot, killed while walking with son

OXNARD, Calif. Police said the victim, identified as 32-year-old Uriel Loya, was leaving his work at a car dealership in the 800 block of S. Oxnard Boulevard with his son when he was approached by a suspect at about 8:40 p.m.

The suspect forced Loya and his son on the ground at gunpoint, demanding personal property. Although Loya complied with the demands, the suspect still shot him and fled.

The 10-year-old boy was not harmed.

Loya was taken to Saint John's Regional Medical Center with a gunshot wound to his torso. He later died during surgery.
