LOS ANGELES --A veteran LAPD officer is currently under suspension with pay while he's the subject of a federal investigation.The L.A. Times reports that 49-year-old officer Johnny Baltazar is accused of buying several guns and more than 1,500 rounds of ammunition from the LAPD Academy store and shipping them to Belize without a permit. Baltazar reportedly owns a security company in Belize.
Documents also claim he failed to notify his superiors that he was under federal investigation.
Investigators are expected to present their findings to a grand jury.
