Cops open fire on alleged armed robbers

HAWTHORNE, Calif. The suspects ran out of a T-Mobile store at Rosecrans and Ocean Gate Avenues just before 9 p.m. when police arrived.

Police opened fire, and it is not clear if the suspects fired back at police.

No one was hurt in the shooting. Three men were taken into custody, but their names have not been released.

The gunmen had allegedly entered the store and took cash from about 15 employees and customers inside the business at gunpoint. Some of the employees managed to hide in a back room during the robbery.
