December 24, 2008 6:32:12 AM PST
A sea lion, found stranded near Oakland Airport, has been taken to an animal hospital for observation. The sea lion was picked up by wildlife experts on Tuesday. A hospital spokesman says the animal does not appear to be injured, but is pretty thin.

The 6-foot long male is just 175 pounds, but so far, no word on how the animal got stranded at the airport.

Wildlife officials say sea lions are curious and sometimes wander far away to explore and follow food sources.
