Man dies after Sacramento house explosion

December 24, 2008 12:00:00 AM PST
One of the victims of a home explosion in a Sacramento suburb that officials believe was caused by a natural gas leak has died. Phyllis Brown, a spokeswoman with the University of California, Davis Medical Center, said Wilbert Paana died Wednesday.

Paana was in his early 70s and suffered a severe abdominal injury in Wednesday's explosion. He was listed in critical condition at the hospital earlier in the day.

Brown identified the other burn victims brought to the UC Davis medical complex as Kim Dickson, in her mid-40s, and 17-year-old Sunny Dickson. Sunny Dickson was transferred later in the day to nearby Shriners Hospital for Children.

Officials could not immediately say where the Dicksons and Paana were when the home exploded.
