Painful condition linked to popular drug

The drug is called Fosamax.

A report in the Journal of the American Dental Association quotes a Southern California dentist as saying his clinic is seeing one to four new cases of the jaw condition known as ONJ.

The condition is characterized by pain, swelling, infection, loose teeth and exposed bone.

The study does not suggest people who were prescribed the osteoporosis drug should stop taking it, but should be aware of the side effects.
