He and his son, Redmond, were arrested at their home during a probation sweep in September.
They were each charged with a felony count of possession of methamphetamine, however Redmond O'Neal faces additional charges.
Ryan O'Neal has agreed to go into an 18 month drug program. Meantime his son's drug case has been postponed until February.
