Less free time may lead to unruly kids

January 26, 2009 12:08:36 PM PST
A new study says curbing free time at school may lead to unruly children.Researchers found that children behaved better in the classroom when they had at least a 15-minute break during school, compared to those who did not.

The study in the journal 'Pediatrics' found some overcrowded schools were forced to turn inside exercise space into classrooms to keep up with the No Child Left Behind Act.

Researchers found physical exercise then took a back seat to reading and math, and experts said that change may lead to unruly classrooms and poor socialization skills.
