LOS ANGELES --Teachers for the L.A. Unified School District will boycott what they call unnecessary and expensive students tests starting on Tuesday. The United Teachers Los Angeles union says the tests are not mandated by the state or federal government and cost as much as $150 million to administer.
The union says that money could be better spent instead of laying off teachers, increasing class sizes and cutting school programs.
The LAUSD has not commented on the boycott.
