The 3-pound /*Yorkshire Terrier*/ named Bubbles did not survive.
"The thing that scared me the most is that it came into our backyard," said Dave DeVries, owner of the Yorkshire Terrier.
Police say incidents like these have been happening more often as coyotes come out of the hills because of a shortage of food and water.
A toddler was attacked by a coyote in Lake Arrowhead last year. Authorities said children should not be left unattended outside if coyotes are around.
