Probe into alleged LAPD misconduct

February 2, 2009 9:42:19 AM PST
A federal investigation is now underway into allegations of misconduct involving several LAPD officers.According to the L.A. Times, the investigation stems from a drug case thrown out when a videotape contradicted the officers' testimony.

The officers involved are from the gang enforcement detail. They testified Guillermo Alarcon threw something away that they quickly picked up and found it was cocaine in 2007, but the tape showed the officers searching for the object for 20 minutes.

A judge dismissed the case.

The officers have denied any wrongdoing.
