Chino shootout: Cops killed bystander

CHINO, Calif. The bystander was identified as Daniel Balandran of Rubidoux. Authorities said police mistakenly believed Balandran was one of the suspects during a shootout on the 12000 block of Central Avenue. Officers were responding to a call of a robbery in progress at the pizza shop.

More than 100 shots were fired by both sides in a matter of a few minutes.

Balandran was declared dead at the scene.

One police officer suffered gunshot wounds and is in stable condition.

The two wounded suspects, identified as Edward Cisneros of La Mirada and Joel Anthony Jaquez of Hacienda Heights, are in critical condition. Both men are 28 years old.

The /*Chino Police Department*/ released a statement which said, "This is a tragic event that is still under investigation, our deepest sympathy goes out to the Baledran family during this difficult time."

The parents of Balandran are seeking the help of an attorney in the wake of the tragic death.
