High-speed chase comes to crashing end

February 9, 2009 12:00:00 AM PST
California Highway Patrol officers were pursuing a fleeing suspect driving a late-model orange Mitsubishi Eclipse sports car. Burbank police were assisting in the pursuit. The suspect was driving on surface streets in Burbank, including around the Burbank Airport. The car was driving well in excess of local speed limits.

The car is registered to an owner in Canyon Country, California, in the Valencia area.

It is believed police attempted to pull the driver over for speeding.

The suspect car was driving recklessly on surface streets, going through stoplights and busy traffic intersections, at one point narrowly missing a pedestrian.

The chase moved into the North Hollywood area after approximately 25 minutes of chase through Burbank.

At 6:25 p.m., the driver of the car sped through a Burbank intersection, clipped another moving car, and slammed into the rear end of a parked car on the right side of the street, stopping the Eclipse. Police immediately moved in and arrested the driver.
