Girl expected to live after L.A. shooting

BOYLE HEIGHTS, Calif. Police responded to the 300 block of West 47th Street near Broadway at about 7:30 p.m.

Police said two men pulled up to the house in a white minivan that had paper plates on it. Neighbors reported seeing a passenger wearing a white hooded sweatshirt get out of the vehicle and shoot into the residence with a handgun, then jump back into the minivan.

Both suspects fled the scene.

The little girl was apparently doing her homework at the time when she was shot in the arm and chest.

Police believe they are dealing with a gang-related shooting.

The child is recovering at County-USC Medical Center. She is listed in serious but stable condition.

The family stayed inside on Wednesday afternoon, saying they were not ready to talk to reporters.

Anyone with information is urged to call the LAPD at (877) LAPD-24-7.
