2 hospitalized after O.C. police pursuit

Two people are in the hospital after a bizarre end to a police pursuit in Orange County.The chase began just before 10 p.m. Tuesday in Fullerton and ended in La Habra.

The driver, a 37-year-old San Diego man, was suspected of shoplifting from a Target store, and reportedly tried to attack a security guard with a hammer.

Police say when he was forced off the road, they had to break a window to stop him from stabbing himself with a piece of glass. He remains hospitalized in critical condition.

A female passenger was also hospitalized after stabbing herself with glass.
