ABC7 viewer helps pooch's happy homecoming

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. Last Thursday "Walter" -- a chow mix -- had appeared on our "/*Pet of the Week*/" segment. Walter had been picked up on the streets of El Segundo.

It turned out Walter was actually the Pina Family's dog "King" from Lynwood.

The Pinas say King had escaped from their yard about one month ago and was picked up as a stray several miles away.

A neighbor, who happened to be watching /*Eyewitness News*/ when King made an appearance, told the family right away. The Pinas checked abc7.com and found their missing dog.

"He was so happy to see us ... And we're so happy to see him," said Caroline Pina, upon King's return. "We give thanks that he is alive and is well and that he was well taken care of."

"It's just amazing, I can't believe he traveled just a few miles and he's still alive. It's like a miracle," said Dylan Pina.

The Pinas say King has a habit of running down the street, but he always comes back.

After this episode, the Pinas have implanted a microchip in the dog so they can track him down a bit easier.
