Northrop Grumman announces SoCal layoffs

Northrop Grumman Corporation has announced it will lay off 750 workers, mostly in the Southland.But it plans to hire more than that in engineering and manufacturing.

The layoffs will be done over the next few months in the business sector by consolidating administrative staffs in El Segundo and Redondo Beach.

Northrop has said it is merging its aircraft-making Integrated Systems unit in El Segundo with the satellite-making Space Techology unit in Redondo Beach.

The aerospace company is the country's second largest military contractor, with nearly 13,000 employees worldwide.
