Felon flees during grand theft trial

SANTA ANA, Calif. Mark Georgantas asked to use the bathroom, but never returned.

In his absence, he was convicted of four counts of felony grand theft for using stolen credit cards.

This isn't the first time Georgantas has been on the run.

In 2003, he escaped from an Irvine jail through a storm drain and led authorities on a dangerous pursuit. A flat tire ended the chase, and he surrendered to authorities.

At that time, he was serving a 1-year sentence for conspiracy to defraud and grand theft.

A $1 million warrant has been issued for his arrest.
