LOS ANGELES --A man convicted in an immigrant smuggling ring based in Los Angeles has been sentenced to 6.5 years in prison.Guatemalan national Francisco Andres-Francisco was arrested in Pennsylvania while driving a van loaded with nine alleged illegal immigrants.
More than 140 people were also found in two "drop houses" in South L.A. in 2005.
The smuggling ring is thought to have brought more than 9,000 illegal immigrants into the U.S.
Six other suspects in the case have pleaded guilty.
