Sections of 91 Fwy closed over weekend

RIVERSIDE, Calif. Around 11 p.m. Friday, the westbound 91 will close, as well as three lanes on the eastbound 91. Crews are replacing temporary bridge supports at the La Sierra Avenue interchange, as part of a $38 million upgrade.

Westbound traffic will be directed off the freeway at La Sierra and immediately back onto the freeway. The closure will be lifted at 6 a.m. Saturday. The same detour will be in effect from 11 p.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday.

Riverside Public Works officials are advising drivers to exit the freeway at Magnolia Avenue or Tyler Street, and take city streets around the closure.

On the following weekend, the eastbound side of the 91 will be closed for the same project.
