March 11, 2009 5:46:12 AM PDT
The Sports Museum of Los Angeles is closing to the general public, because of low attendance. It opened just four months ago.

It was billed as the world's largest known collection of sports memorabilia and collectibles under one roof, including a Babe Ruth uniform.

The facility boasts more than 10,000 items, worth more than $30 million.

The museum, located near downtown, will continue to offer tours by reservation for groups of 15 or more.

A similar museum in New York City closed last month citing financial problems.
