Tree topples, lands on cars in Loma Linda

March 15, 2009 12:00:00 AM PDT
At least six cars were damaged, and two were totaled, after a large eucalyptus tree came crashing down at Loma Linda University. The 80-foot tree toppled around noon Sunday in a parking lot outside the women's dorm rooms. Firefighters came out to clean up the mess and said no one was injured in the accident.

Weather does not appear to have been a factor, but school administrators said the tree was one of the oldest on campus.

A student who owned one of the cars that was completely crushed by the tree said it was her second car in about a month. The first one was stolen.
