Study: Peanut allergies may be cured

March 16, 2009 8:35:08 AM PDT
There's new evidence that peanut allergies may one day be cured.Scientists at Duke University and Arkansas Children's Hospital studied a group of children allergic to peanuts.

The kids were given tiny amounts of peanut flour, and the dose was gradually increased.

Doctors say the children's immune systems were eventually re-trained, and they can now eat peanut products without allergic reactions.

However, doctors warn people not to try this on their own.
