Fundraiser to save Ventura library

March 23, 2009 1:27:08 PM PDT
The San Buenaventura Friends of the Library is rushing to raise funds to save the H.P. Wright Library from closing.By mid-March, the volunteer nonprofit group had raised $38,000 of the $280,000 needed by April to keep the 42-year-old library from closing at the end of June.

Officials may close the Ventura County library because of a $650,000 budget shortfall.

The H.P. Wright Library is on the east end of Ventura, and its collection would go to the E.P. Foster Library in downtown.

A final decision is expected in April.
