Riverside Co. to get 9-acre aquatic park

RUBIDOUX, Calif. The County Supervisors on Tuesday approved final plans for the /*Jurupa Valley Aquatic Center*/, located in Rubidoux, at the intersection of Camino Real and Mission Blvd. The facility will feature an Olympic-sized swimming pool, water rides, picnic grounds, and concession stands. The pool will be reserved for Jurupa Valley Unified School District students during the school year, and free to the general public the rest of the time.

The next step in the process: the county Economic Development Agency will hire a contractor to building the center. The estimated cost of the project is $22 million. It will be paid for with redevelopment funds, generated by property taxes.

No completion date is set. But construction is expected to take 18 months, and could begin in the next couple of months.
