Santa Monica to expand Big Blue Bus line

SANTA MONICA, Calif. Using $12.8 million in /*federal economic stimulus*/ funding, it will buy 10 hybrid buses from a Riverside based manufacturer and as many as six other buses.

The new 30-foot gasoline-electric hybrids will be used on neighborhood /*Mini Blue lines*/.

The agency will also add three 60-foot busses to the busy Rapid 3 and Rapid 7 lines. Up to three 40-foot alternative fuel buses will replace several older diesel models.
