Group recommends Ventura sales-tax hike

VENTURA, Calif. The council must now give its approval to the ballot measure. The increase would last for four years.

The blue ribbon committee recommended that the extra revenue be used for public safety, infrastructure, libraries, economic revitalization, and reserves.

The city council is also considering a redesign of the budget that would reduce spending by $11.4 million during the next two years.
