More than 730,000 high chairs recalled

April 3, 2009 12:00:00 AM PDT
About 643,000 Evenflo Envision high chairs and about 90,000 Majestic high chairs are being recalled because of faulty screws and fasteners that can fall out, allowing the seatback to fall back or detach. Children can fall backwards or fall out of the chair and suffer bruises, cuts, broken bones and abrasions. The detached screws also pose a choking risk.

The company has received more than 335 reports of incidents involving the seatbacks and nearly 160 reports of screws, caps and fasteners falling out.

The Envision high chairs were sold at children's product stores around the country, including Toys "R" Us, Babies "R" Us, Kmart, Walmart and Burlington Coat Factory between December 2002 and April 2006. The Majestic high chairs were sold at the same stores between January 2007 and March 2009.

Another 95,000 Evenflo Majestic chairs were recalled back in December 2008.

Parents are advised to stop using the chairs immediately and call Evenflo at (800) 233-5921.
