'Axe Body Spray' may be a fire danger

April 8, 2009 6:15:17 AM PDT
Firefighters are warning teens about a popular body spray that some are using as a blow torch. Teenagers across the country are using Axe Body Spray to light fires or to light themselves on fire. They are reportedly recording the incidents and posting the video on YouTube.

The West Metro Fire Department in Denver, Colorado, says an apartment building in nearby Lakewood was heavily damaged by a fire started by two kids playing with the body spray. An 11-year-old boy is one of the suspects charged with setting the blaze. His mother says she had no idea the spray could be so dangerous.

Fire officials staged a demonstration, showing what can happen when the spray isn't used properly. They want to prevent someone from being seriously injured or killed by playing with the body spray.
