Cool Kid helps save grandfather's life

LOS ANGELES "My grandmother called me. She told me he couldn't breathe. I saw him on his bed, pale, very white. So I ran to the phone [and] called 911," said Adrian Lepe.

Adrian did all he could to stabilize his grandfather until help arrived.

His grandfather is alive and filled with pride and gratitude.

"He's grateful because Adrian had a quick response and Adrian was able to be there and help out," said Connie Gonzalez, who translated for Adrian's grandfather, Sabino Gonzalez.

Adrian volunteers at a local senior center and hopes more youth in East L.A. will take an interest in their neighborhood.

"Be an example, hopefully for the community, so they can see that just to do things in the street isn't the only thing you can do," said Adrian. "Go and do other things that can help out."

Adrian Lepe is a "/*Cool Kid*/" because of all that he does for the people around him, and especially for what he did for his grandfather.
