"He was unable to recover from the initial lane change, which caused him to strike the guardrail," California Highway Patrol Sgt. Charlie Sampson said.
The truck, filled with produce, crashed through the guard rail and was left hanging off the side of the freeway.
The driver escaped without getting hurt.
Several lanes had to be closed, and traffic was diverted while crews removed the trailer.
