Alleged drug-related fight leaves 2 dead

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. Police said neither of the victims is from the area.

Police responded to the 700 block of West Olive Street after neighbors reported hearing gunfire just after 7 p.m.

A 33-year-old woman from Bellflower was shot and killed in a bedroom, and a 40-year-old man was shot in the living room. He was still alive when paramedics arrived, but he later died at a hospital.

Detectives said the double murder appears to be drug related.

Police are interviewing two people who live in the house and were reportedly inside at the time of the shooting. One person was found hiding in a closet, and the other person was outside when officers arrived. They were not injured.

Police are now looking for two suspects who fled the scene.

Neighbor Gerardo Guido said he was fixing his kid's scooter when he heard three gunshots.

"I thought they were fireworks," he said.

Guido said in the 18 months he's lived in the neighborhood, he's seen a lot of young people stopping by the house by short periods of time.

"I think they were selling drugs. I was about to call the cops myself," Guido said.

Nobody has been arrested.

The names of the victims have not yet been released.

Anyone with information is urged to call San Bernardino police at (909) 384-5656.
