An Orange County man was arraigned on Thursday for the murder of his daughter. Clarence Butterfield, 55, had been jailed in Las Vegas on unrealted charges and was returned to Orange County Tuesday.

The vehicle was impounded after Butterfield was arrested on a charge of obstructing a police officer.

Two impound yard employees found the body in October 2008.

The Orange County District Attorney's Office says Butterfield faces charges of special circumstances murder with torture and assault with a firearm.

Butterfield could face the death penalty .

The Orange County Register and Associated Press contributed to this report.
