Corona man charged with killing daughters

RIVERSIDE, Calif. Amado Acevedo Esqueda, 39, was charged with two counts of murder, assault on a child resulting in injury or death, and one count of attempted murder.

Corona Police say around 6:45 a.m. Saturday, Esqueda stabbed his 2-month-old daughter, Natalie, and 6-year-old daughter, Casanda at the family's home on the 700 block of Via Paraiso Circle.

Investigators say he attacked his common-law wife, Irene Gonzalez, 33, stabbing her several times with a knife.

Gonzalez called 911 to report the attack and police found her bleeding and screaming that her daughters were dead.

Esqueda, who supposedly stabbed himself in the chest, underwent surgery at a Riverside hospital and is expected to recover.

Investigators say Esqueda has lived in Corona since 2007 and that his wife arrived more recently from Mexico.

Police say there was a report of the couple arguing last Wednesday.
