Marissa is also raising funds to help teen patients at /*Children's Hospital*/. At this time in her life she is more connected to concerns of young people than adult issues.
"Getting a job, paying the rent. I can't really relate to stuff like that, but to kids it's having fun, talking to your friends, learning new things, going to school. And that stuff I can relate to," says Marissa.
Marissa says hearing that her work was appreciated by one of the teens she helps was a priceless reward.
"It made me feel really good that I was the one giving her this happy feeling, making her feel more at home and more like a real teenager," says Marissa.
Even though Marissa is a busy freshman at /*Harvard-Westlake*/, she makes sure to always have time to lend a hand.
"It's just something I have to do. And by helping these people, it just makes it so much better," says Marissa. "Not only does it make me feel good, but it helps them so much more than it helps me."
