Man wanted for molesting child relative

May 15, 2009 12:00:00 AM PDT
The search is on for a 46-year-old Anaheim man suspected of tying up and sexually attacking a young relative. Police allege Marcial Torres kept a girl bound and gagged for up to 30 minutes while he molested her. It happened Wednesday afternoon in north Anaheim at an apartment Torres shares with his wife.

The victim is a relative of Torres, and is younger than 14 years old. To protect her identity, police are not providing details about her.

"Torres forced himself on the girl in a sexual manner. When she resisted he tied up her hands by using a cloth material," said Anaheim Police Sgt. Rick Martinez. "When she began to call for help, he then bound her mouth up with some sort of tape to prevent her from screaming."

Police say Torres untied the girl after the alleged attack, then packed up his belongings and drove off in his pickup truck.

"It's real bad," said Anaheim resident Shirley Barfield. "I think it's sad because I have teenagers that I worry about them when they're out here, and there's a whole lot of stuff that goes on around here, and it's real sad to see this going on."

Torres is 5' 9" in height and weighs 140 pounds.

Police say he had a job in Santa Ana as a maintenance worker at a food-distribution company. He also has relatives or contacts in Texas and Mexico.

Torres's vehicle is a 2002 brown Ford Ranger pickup truck, California license plate 7X92474. If you've seen him or his vehicle, call your local police.
