Kogi BBQ trucks banned from Orange County

May 19, 2009 12:00:00 AM PDT
Orange County is telling a popular Korean taco truck company to hit the road. The Kogi trucks sell a Korean short-rib version of tacos, burritos, and quesadillas. They have become a sensation in Southern California in recent months, drawing huge crowds at their various stops.

But according to the Orange County Register, Kogi's operators have been banned from selling tacos in Orange County because the company does not have the necessary health permits.

Kogi co-founder Roy Choi told the Register that he thought his permits from Los Angeles County, where his business is based, were sufficient. Choi sounded defiant, telling the paper that if he is banned from Orange County, he'll park his trucks at the county line.
