One boy ran off, but police say the teenager threatened and punched the other boy and took him to the CVS store, where both boys were caught trying to steal beer.
The store manager detained the boy, who was not charged.
The 17-year-old was arrested and booked for kidnapping, robbery and commercial burglary.
